College Project

Chapbook - Hiroshige

Project: Create and write a well-designed chapbook based on an artist of interest. Use the different chapters to portray their lives and how their art progressed over time. Use principles of Gestalt for alignments, unity, continuation, variety, etc.

Objective: To create a visually appealing design and a well-written story for the reader to easily follow and be informative.

Overall Visual: Informative, Attention to detail, and organization of information

My Design: For my project, I am always amazed by woodblock artists, so for this project, I picked the well-known Utagawa Hiroshige. I wanted to make a very modern design for the images to pop out a lot more,e as it is the main focus. I picked a variety of images throughout his life and gathered most of my text referencing Pictures of the Floating World by Sarah E. Thompson and Hiroshige: One Hundred Famous Views of Edo by Melanie Trede.
