Knitty City Poster

College Project

Project: Create an illustration with a strong typographical theme/focus for the advertising and promoting Knitty City (sewing workshop) as a subway poster. The project also included using a historical art reference of our choice.

Objective: To create a visually appealing design advertising to the general public to join the late night event, “After Hours” and to relate the design to an art history movement.

Overall Visual: Informative, Art Reference, Exciting, and Attention-grabbing.

My Design: For this project, I wanted to expand on the art movement Art Nouveau, as most pieces were designed to attract one’s gaze to sell products that posters were advertising. I was heavily inspired by Alphonse Mucha, to whom I created my Knitty City Poste,r referencing his art style.
